DINDIGUL
Dindigul is located at a distance
of 420 Km from Chennai. The town proximity is about 150 Km south
of Salem, 160 Km east of Coimbatore and 100 Km from south west of
Trichy. It is well connected to major cities through NH 7 (Bauarascape
comanin) NH 45 and SH 10 and both Metre gauge. The area of the town
is 14.01 sqkm. Dindigul is the district head quarter of Dindigul
District.

Dinidgul Bust stand is centrally
located in Dindigul town. The town is well connected to rural areas
through town services run by RMTC and private operators. About 150
town services are operated in 128 routes. The heartiest flow of
town service is found along Dindigul, Chinnalapatti, sempatti routes

Temperature |
The town is situated at the
foot of sirumalai Hills at an elevation of 265 metres above mean
sea level. Hot and dry climate generally prevails over the district.
As the district is having hills and plains the climate varies. During
summer season (ie) from March to July temperature is very high and
December to January marks the winter season in which the temperature
is below average. The maximum temperature during summer is 37’c
and in winter is 29’c. The mean maximum and minimum temperatures
are 26’c and 20’c respectively.

Rainfall |
Dindigul get its rain mainly
during northeast Monsoon period in the months of October, November
and December. The average rainfall is 812mm. The recorded maximum
and minimum rainfall being 1194mm and 508mm respectively.

Soil |
The area is mostly covered
by a thin veeneer soil, which is mostly black clayey soil with red
soil. The subsoil water level varies from 6m to 10m below ground
level.
